How do I access the TSI network from any location using Internet Explorer (SSL-VPN)?

Transitional Services provides a method for all employees to be able to have instant access to all organizational resources such as email, applications and other data through a secure connection to the main office.  This connection is created by each employee on the computer they are using at any time.  The method described below is an example of how a user can access the network using a Windows XP computer that is running Internet Explorer 6.x.

1.  After you have started your computer, ensure that you are connected to the Internet--this can be any Internet connection--at home, another office, Panera or where ever you can find a connection.

2.  Once you have the connection to the Internet, open Internet Explorer and go to this address: https://vpn.transitionalservices.org/portal/main.  You can either copy/paste this address into Internet Explorer or click on the link and you will be directed to the site.

3.  The following window will be displayed.

4.  As shown above, enter your username, password and select the location where you are working in the list beside where it asks for the Domain.  After you have entered all three of these, click on the Login button and you will be taken to the following screen.

5.  There are several ways of accessing the same connection.  Listed above, you see the following possible links:

Remote Desktop - This is a large window.  It will open up and completely fill your screen if you are running a resolution of 1024x768.

Remote Desktop (Small) - If you try the normal Remote Desktop connection and it is too large for your screen, you can select the small one and it will only take up a box that is 800x600 on your screen.  The disadvantage is that it is a much smaller space in which to be able to work.

6.  When you click on one of the Remote Desktop links, you will see the following window pop up.  The main thing to watch is the small bar that is displayed at the top of the window where it explains, "This site might require the following ActiveX control: 'XTSAC.cab' from 'SonicWall , Inc.'"   When you see this bar, place your mouse on the bar and right click.Transitional Services Virtual Office

7.  When you right click, you will see a menu, similar to that shown below.  Click on the first option, "Install ActiveX Control..." and you will see a new window that prompts you for the install.

8.  Click on the button labeled "Install" and you will then see the next window where you can connect to the remote desktop.  Please note that you may need to go through this process two times.

9.  On the last window that opens up, you will be able to login to the network using your username and password.  The first time you connect from any computer, you will need to go through these steps.  From then on, the software will be installed and you will not need to do any installs unless you get a new computer or if your operating system is re-installed or something.
