How does a new user log onto the network for the first time? |

This guide will work for all computers in the agency, regardless of location or type of computer. Follow the steps below to login to the network for the first time. The first step is to power up your computer and monitor, which will bring you to the following Novell Login prompt automatically: As shown below, enter your username and password, which will be provided either by the IT staff or your supervisor: Once the system accepts your username and password that was provided to you, the system will ask you to change your password. Select Yes to change your password. The password you use must meet the following standards:
Some examples of passwords that will work include: Ship505Wreck, Steelers1Rock, and Mouse12House. Once you have entered your new password two times in the window shown below, press OK. You may be presented with the following prompt that talks about Microsoft's Internet Security. Simply check the box beside "In the future, do not show this message" One of the next screens you may see if you are logging in on either the Virtual Office or through a thin client is the prompt to select your default printer. Select the printer that is the one you want to print to for your location. Then click OK. The system will confirm that you selected a printer. Click OK. Next, the GroupWise client will prompt you to login. Enter your password (the one you just created) in order to log into Groupwise. Somewhere along the way, the system will ask you to create Challenge/Response questions so that you can recover your password if you forget it. Click OK on the following prompt to start through this process. There are two questions. Read the first and answer it and click OK, then read and answer the second question and click OK. Keep in mind that however you type your answer, that is how it nees to be typed later. For example, Homestead is not the same as homestead, Brownsville, PA is not the same as Brownsville PA. After you have completed both questions, you will be told that the process has been completed. Click OK. At this point, you will have successfully logged into the network for the first time.
