How can I prepare my home computer to connect to the TSI Virtual Office?

Here are the steps to enable Internet Explorer to install the necessary software for connecting to the remote desktop:

1.  Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".  Click on the "Security" tab.

2.  Click on the globe marked "Internet".   This will display a slider which, by default, is set to "Medium".  Click on the "custom" button.

3.  Scroll down until you find the setting "Download unsigned ActiveX Controls".  Prompt this setting. Click OK as needed to save the setting. This step will allow you to download an unsigned ActiveX control.

4.  Scroll down until you find the setting "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting".  Enable this setting. Click OK as needed to save the setting. This step will allow the VBScript in the web page can interact with the OCX.

After the ActiveX software installs correctly, we recommend working through these settings and changing them back to the default of disabling the scripts/prompts.

What is ActiveX?

ActiveX is a set of technologies that enables software components to interact with one another in a networked environment, regardless of the language in which the components were created.

ActiveX is built on Microsoft's Component Object Model (COM). Currently, ActiveX is used primarily to develop interactive content for the World Wide Web, although it can be used in desktop applications and other programs. ActiveX controls can be embedded in web pages to produce animation and other multimedia effects, interactive objects, and sophisticated applications
